(Portville, NY)
Pan-Con Productions, the multi-media giant that began in Portville back in 1978
as a high school filming troupe, has witnessed a resurgence in popularity over the past few years.
The Panther Profile caught up with Con, one of the founding members of the original
team that has gone on to produce films, music videos, commercials, music albums, websites, and a host of other projects over the past three decades.
A new and controversial Pan-Con music video has recently surfaced on the Internet, but Pan-Con
officials are stating that they did not produce the video and that it is a bootleg.
Panther Profile: Thank you for spending time with us Mr. Con. And as you know, alot
of fans want to know what your reaction is to the new Pan-Con video. Who produced and released it?
Con: To be honest, we don't know. Some of the video footage has never been seen by the public,
not even by some of the original members of the group. It's contains rare stuff from 25 years ago that we never
included in any of our films, so we have people working on how it got leaked or stolen.
PF: People are saying this is just a publicity stunt to generate a buzz around a controversy/mystery.
Con: Absolutely not. We have alerted the proper authorities and have our legal team on top
of it. It's no joke. The song was stolen directly from our album "Pan-Con at the Hollywood Bowl", which was released
in 2001.
PF: Maybe one your employees secretly did it.
Con: All I can say is that we're working on all possibilities.
PF: Noting the controversial images and lyrics, that have incidently upset many people, why haven't
you demanded that the video be pulled from these Internet sites?
Con: Actually, I like the video, particularly from the historical viewpoint. I created all
of the raw material that this mystery person put together. He or she saved us lots of money. And to be honest,
much of the material may never have seen the light of day anyway, so it has turned out to be good for us so far. We've
had great exposure, despite the mess it has created. But we still need to find out the who, what, where, when, why,
and how of the matter.
PF: What about the obscene references?
Con: Yes, indeed. It's got a little of everything - the Methodist Church, Dodge Creek, the
Irish Basin, the PCS cafeteria, hot chicks, Chestnut Cemetery, corn, Wimp's underground house, Coon Hollow, Moke Jaekle without
his shirt, and a little rebellion but not much.
PF: There seems to be quite a bit of irony and foreshadowing in this mystery video. I see
Rob is STILL doing experiments on natural water sources.
Con: Ha! He sure is. He worked his way from Dodge Creek to the Allegheny River,
the Ohio, the mighty Mississippi, the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic, and now he's in the Pacific Ocean trying to unlock
the secrets of the planet.
Sorry, I gotta go. Good talking with you.
